The National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA) has named Michelle Pond to the position of executive director. Pond replaces Brad Rumble, who stepped down as executive director to pursue other business interests. Rumble will remain on the association’s board of directors.
Pond is the director of client services for Sports Management Associates, L.C., the founder and manager of NHSGCA. Her responsibilities include management of publications, media relations and promotions for clients; serving as assistant executive director for a metro Kansas City youth tennis league; and directing a number of events and programs (including a charity golf tournament) for a youth basketball organization that serves over 5,000 participants on a year-round basis. She has been the editor of the NHSGCA newsletter.
Pond has more than 20 years of experience in athletic administration—most notably with the NCAA where, among other things, she was the staff member in charge of the women’s golf championships for a number of years. Michelle is a member of the USGA and the Women’s lntersport Network for Kansas City, and has served on the KC Metro Chapter board of the Executive Women’s Golf Association.
The NHSGCA is a non-profit professional association for high school golf coaches. The mission of the association is to provide educational programs and services for high school golf coaches.
